Privacy Policy
CamPass is built to keep your video on your own network. This policy explains what the CamPass app and website (campass.northboundhouse.com) do — and don't — collect.
The short version: CamPass streams video only between your own Macs, over your local network. Your video never touches our servers. We don't require an account, and we don't track you. The only personal data involved is what you provide when you buy a license, which is handled by our payment provider.
1. Who we are
CamPass is a macOS app developed and operated by Northbound House ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at hello@northboundhouse.com.
2. The CamPass app
Your video stays local. CamPass turns one Mac's camera into a virtual camera on another Mac across your local network. That video is end-to-end encrypted and travels directly between your devices. It is never sent to, relayed through, or stored on our servers.
No account. You don't create an account to use CamPass. Your free-trial status is stored locally on your Mac (in the macOS Keychain) and is not reported to us.
License activation. When you enter a license key, the app contacts our payment provider (Freemius) to validate and activate the license. This sends the license key and a device identifier so we can enforce the license limit (activation on up to 3 Macs). It does not include your video or the contents of your calls.
3. Purchases
Purchases of CamPass are processed by Freemius, Inc., which acts as our authorized reseller and merchant of record. When you buy a license, Freemius collects the information needed to complete your order — such as your name, email address, billing address, and payment details — under Freemius's Privacy Policy.
We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We do receive limited order information (such as your email address and license status) so that we can deliver your license, provide support, and manage activations.
4. The website
Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, GitHub may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and secure the site, under GitHub's Privacy Statement. We do not run our own advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not set marketing cookies.
The checkout on our buy page is provided by Freemius and loaded from their servers when you choose to purchase.
5. What we do not collect
- The video from your cameras or the contents of your calls.
- Anything about the other apps or activity on your Macs.
- Data used to track you across other websites or services.
6. How we use information
We use the limited information we receive to deliver and support your license, respond to your messages, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Third-party services
- Freemius — payments, licensing, and order-related email.
- GitHub — website hosting.
- Apple — if you obtain CamPass through Apple, Apple's terms and privacy policy also apply to that transaction.
8. Data retention
We retain order and support information for as long as needed to provide the product, meet legal and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. You may request deletion of the personal data we hold, subject to those obligations.
9. Security
CamPass encrypts every session between your devices (a Curve25519 key exchange with authenticated encryption), and connections are confirmed on first use. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but keeping your video on your own network is central to how CamPass is designed.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@northboundhouse.com. For payment data held by Freemius, you can also contact Freemius directly.
11. Children
CamPass is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
12. International users
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using CamPass, you understand your information may be handled in these locations.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
